Pori offers education to students of all ages The City of Pori provides individuals with the opportunity to engage in study from the kindergarten to doctorate level. Pori's junior high and high schools offer an extensive menu of opportunities conducive to attaining a culturally broadening education that is conformant to the student's own skills and interests. Professional education is offered by all of the following: WinNova (various fields of study, including technology, tourism, forestry etc.) and Palmgren Conservatory, a general music college for students of all ages. The Pori School of Art facilitates the education of pictorial art to children and youngsters, the teaching of art to adults, and even allows for the professional preparation of the pictorial artist and the movie editor. The Finnish Aviation Academy, which organises national courses for professional pilots, is also situated in Pori. Higher education is facilitated by the regional Satakunta University of Applied Sciences, which offers a wide range of professional education opportunities through the Pori branch of the Diaconia Institute of Higher Education and through the University Consortium of Pori (UCPori). The University Consortium is a centre providing an umbrella organisation for the universities co-operating in the same area. The mother universities have the responsibility for operations or the responsibility for coordination of activities. The mother university of UCPori is Tampere University of Technology. The universities with branch departments in Pori are: Tampere University of Technology, Aalto University, University of Tampere and University of Turku. Other significant educational centers
include the Community College, the Otsola Community
College, the Rudolf Steiner School, the Pori Christian
School, the Pori Swedish School, the Vocational Adult
Education Center, the Satakunta Apprenticeship Center,
and the Summer University of Western Finland. |
